Playing Sports After Getting a Colostomy Bag

Sports are great for a lot of reasons. Watching them can fill you with a lot of excitement and joy, and playing them is a really great way for you to end up staying fit once all has been said and is now out of the way. The reason behind this is that you would probably end up running around a lot while you are playing most sports, and being able to do so is going to shed a lot of weight from your body whilst simultaneously enabling you to feel confident about yourself for a change.

That said, a ostomy bag health impact that you should keep into account is that it can make playing sports more difficult than might have been the case otherwise. For one thing, your stoma is a very delicate part of your body and if it were to get injured it would cause a lot of problems that you are really not going to want to have to deal with since it would involve going to a doctor as well as exposing your vulnerable side to a group of people that might not fully understand whatever it is that you are currently going through.

The majority of colostomy bag users out there would recommend that you avoid sports, but this isn’t entirely true. You can still play sports, but you would just need to be careful about things like rough physical contact. This means that sports like football and basketball are off the table, but competing in track running events might be rather easy for you as there is no chance at all that your stoma could get impacted and injured in the process.
