What is pulp?
Pulp is a raw material made using the fibers of plants to make paper. The pulp consists of cellulose, pectin, pigment, etc. The cellulose is separated from plants using either chemical or mechanical processes. Once after separation and processing, the pulp can be used to make paper. The other uses of pulp are plastic, paint, etc. The plant has more percentage of fiber used for making pulp. The pulping process includes cooking, washing, and drying. The three ways of making pulp are chemical, mechanical, and chemical-mechanical. The equipment used for making pulp is a vacuum filter, digester, etc.
Uses of pulps
- The white mechanical pulp gets used for making newspapers and printing paper.
- Brown mechanical pulp gets used for paperboard.
- Sulfate pulp comes in two types. One type is bleached, and the other is unbleached. The unbleached paper is used to make Kraft paper, normal-use paper, boards, etc. The bleached paper finds its use in writing paper and text paper.
- Sulfite paper has three types. The first type is called the bleached pulp. It is soft and hence used in the making of fine paper. The second type is the partly bleached pulp used for making trace paper. The third and last type is unbleached paper. The unbleached paper is yellow and hard. It is used to make tissue papers, fine printing paper, etc.
- Wastepaper pulp is made using waste paper. It has many uses like printing paper, paper board, etc.

Pulp is used for packing. The packaging is eco-friendly and better than plastic or Styrofoam packaging. The use of Asia pulp and paper is made for packing. The packing is water-resistant and is not affected by extreme temperatures. It also provides a good cushion and protects the items placed inside. The process made for making this is chemical free.
